Olive Dishes

CA$20.00

A happy little experiment turned into a great invention! I made one of these “moon dishes” in 2019 and my mom said it reminded her of the dishes used to serve olives in some parts of Europe. Enjoy your olives and plunk the pits in the little separated part.

approx. 3” across. Shown with the larger “cherry bowl” in the last picture.

Artist’s Notes:

Made with high-quality, durable stoneware clay sourced from the Canadian Prairies, and glazed with food-safe materials that I mix myself.

Handmade with lots of love in my home studio in BC, Canada. All my pots start as hand-rolled slabs of soft clay and I shape them with the use of simple tools and sponges. I like to leave the joining seam visible, signaling that the pieces were not formed on the pottery wheel and have a unique relationship with my hands. My pottery is more light-weight than you might expect if you are used to using wheel-thrown pieces.

The pieces are fired to vitrification in my electric kiln, and the bottom of each pot is carefully smoothed with diamond-grit sanding pads to protect your furniture.

My inspiration is to make items for “everyday luxury” - useful pots that are a pleasure to use and look at, and my hope is that the raised texture brings you joy.

Food, microwave, oven, and dishwasher safe, but handmade pottery loves to be pampered with hand washing and gentle use :)

Shipped items always include an extra little gift, and are packed safely with re-used materials (bubble wrap, foam sheets, and brown wrapping paper) to help reduce waste. Items are shipped from Princeton BC via Canada Post. I live in a rural area and I bring parcels to the post office 1-2 times per week, so your items will be shipped within 2-5 days of your order. Shipping is $18-25 depending on your location; this is calculated at check-out.
